Hi!
This week I had one of the most annoying things on my eye. A stye. (st-eye)
I had so many people ask what the heck was on my eye, and I proceeded to tell them that it was a stye. Most of them asked what it was, (when I really did not want to explain) so I had to tell them a million things about this painful thing that I wanted to forget about.
After some research, I realized that it is pretty common. It is a bacterial infection in your eye that can be caused by touching your eyes, sleeping in makeup, and more. When I first woke up to it, I thought it was a bruise-like thing on my eye. (You can tell. If you touch it, it will hurt like a bruise)
I am including a picture to show you what it looked like over the time period of a few days.
Now that you've seen what it looks like, I can tell you how I got rid of it.
1. Wait it out.
If you are really patient, then just wait it out and see if it will disappear naturally. Just be sure to not scratch or rub it. The stye can last for as short as a day, or in my case, a week.
2. Hot Compress
This is one of the most used to remove a stye. All you have to do is get hot water and put it on a wash cloth. Fold it so that it can fit to your eye, and gently press it onto the spot of your stye until the warmth wears out. (You can do this additionally with waiting it out.)
3. Tea Bags
Get a tea bag and boil some water to put it in. After you've boiled it to the desired hotness, pour it and some water into a mug to cool off a bit. Then, you can put it directly on your stye, or wrap it with a paper towel and apply it.
4. Throw away ALL Makeup used on eye with stye
Simple as that. ^ I know, you might have paid 20 dollars for that mascara, but let's face it. It's contaminated, and I'm pretty sure you don't want a stye on both of your eyes.
5. All of the above ^
In order to get rid of my stye quick, I did all of the remedies and more above to kill the stye. My stye still healed in a week, (longer than it seems) but as I said, it can heal as quick as a day.
I hope these tips helped you with your stye. It is awful to deal with, let me tell you. I put makeup on the stye, which was a BAD idea. No matter how ugly it looks, ladies, it will be gone quicker without any concealer.
Good luck,
Caroline
P.S.- They say if you lie, you'll get a stye in your eye. So if you want to keep styes away for a long while, be honest! :-)
